Here's a quick rundown of what's new with the Mini-ALTO kits and RAD shock mounts, and why these tweaks might make a difference in day-to-day use.
Cables
We've been expanding our cable range to give you more flexibility. Some of these are already available, and the rest will be rolling out over the next few months:
Mini-ALTO
Since the first launch of the Mini-ALTO, there have been a few small but worthwhile improvements - these changes add to the performance and give you a few more options. Everything is available as spare parts and fits every generation of Mini-ALTO kit. If you ever need spares, just get in touch.
Updated “smiley face” adaptor – the part the Mini-ALTO magnet locks onto now has a crossbar for securing the cable and an extra middle position for the suspension hoops. We've also switched to a slightly softer material, which helps dampen handling noise a bit more.
Anti-sway top bar – now included in all kits. It braces across the suspension hoops to control side-to-side and up-and-down mic movement. It helps stop long shotguns from knocking the inside of the windshield on more energetic boom swings, and also keeps the front of the mic from dipping when you're using a heavier slide-on windshield.
Blue cable plugs
Now standard on all Mini-ALTO cables, with a spare pair in the box if you like making up your own cables. They seal better at the cable exit and help reduce wind and cable noise.
New sizes coming soon
The 410 and 480 Mini-ALTOs, which will fit mics like the Audio-Technica BP4071, Shure VP89L and Sennheiser MKH8070. (Apologies to MKH816 users, we're not quite there yet!)

RAD Shock Mounts
MS Mic Clips – now available in two versions: MS19 and MS20.
Go for MS19 if your top mic is 19–20 mm in diameter, or MS20 if it's 20–21 mm.
The top clip sets the offset angle for the lower one, giving you proper vertical alignment.
You can still fit up to a 21 mm mic in the bottom slot and stay aligned, though a 22 mm will sit slightly off-centre.
Extra-soft 55D shore hoops – now included with Field Edition mounts and Mini-ALTO kits. They're brilliant with lighter or more sensitive mics when booming.
RAD mount washer (coming soon) – this will let you make smoother, finer angle adjustments on boom mounts or pistol grips. You can add or remove it as needed. We heard you — sometimes you want the mount teeth to lock firmly in place, and other times you want to nudge the angle just a touch. This will give you that flexibility.
What's Next…
The larger ALTOs and a quick-release system are in the works, but those will need a bit more design work and testing before building prototypes for beta testers. They haven't been forgotten!
