Gencom and Ross Video Win Asia-Pacific Broadcasting+ Award for Sports Broadcasting

Auckland, New Zealand – May 2025 – Gencom Technology and Ross Video are proud to announce that their collaborative work for the Fijian Broadcasting Corporation (FBC) has been selected as the winner in the Sports Broadcasting category at the 2025 Asia-Pacific Broadcasting (APB) Awards.

The award honours the successful delivery of a fast-tracked, high-performance outside broadcast (OB) solution that enabled FBC to produce and distribute Fijian Drua Super Rugby Pacific home matches for international audiences. The joint effort between Gencom and Ross Video saw the design and deployment of a modular production system in less than four months, meeting demanding requirements for broadcast quality, flexibility, and speed of delivery.

Faced with an extremely tight deadline, FBC turned to Gencom for system design, integration, and delivery, and to Ross Video for critical infrastructure components. The system’s core was built around Ross Video’s Ultrix platform, a hyperconverged signal processing and routing solution that streamlined setup and reduced shipping complexity, both key advantages that helped ensure on-time delivery.

Ross Video’s technology suite, including the Ultrix router, Carbonite production switcher, and Ultriscape multiviewers, played a vital role in achieving a compact, efficient, and scalable solution. Their ability to deliver quickly and reliably was a key success factor, and a testament to the strength of Gencom and Ross Video’s long-standing partnership.

The result was a broadcast-ready production facility housed within a 40-foot container, supporting simultaneous OB operations and unlocking new revenue opportunities through international coverage and pay-per-view streaming.

The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting+ Awards celebrate excellence and innovation across the region’s broadcast and media technology sector. This win highlights the impact of agile integration, local expertise, and scalable technology in sports production.

In addition to Ross Video, Gencom worked with several trusted technology partners to bring the full system together, including Clear-Com for production intercom, Calrec for the audio console, Cartoni for heavy-duty camera supports, Birddog for PTZ cameras, Riedel for replay systems, Lectrosonics for radio mix systems, and Glensound for Dante commentary units.
