ENENSYS brings terrestrial broadcasting to mobile with 5G Broadcast

ENENSYS is helping terrestrial broadcasters extend their reach beyond the television screen with an end-to-end 5G Broadcast solution designed to deliver live video and data directly to compatible mobile devices.

Unlike conventional mobile streaming, where an individual stream is delivered to each viewer, 5G Broadcast allows a single transmission to reach an unlimited number of compatible devices simultaneously. This makes it particularly interesting for live sports, major events, and other situations where large audiences may be accessing the same content at once, without adding congestion to cellular networks.

ENENSYS provides the technology across the complete delivery chain, from core network and management through to transmission and middleware on receiving devices. Existing terrestrial infrastructure can also be reused, with ENENSYS exciters integrated into existing transmitters to add 5G Broadcast capability.

The technology also opens up possibilities beyond conventional live television. ENENSYS sees 5G Broadcast supporting Live TV, VoD, Replay, and CatchUp services, as well as applications including targeted advertising, connected vehicle data, and public safety alerts.

For DTT operators, it provides an interesting path towards bringing the scale and efficiency of traditional broadcasting together with the way audiences increasingly consume content on mobile devices.
