AJA introduces FS8 for hybrid SDI and ST 2110 workflows

AJA has introduced the FS8, a next-generation media processor designed to bridge SDI and SMPTE ST 2110 infrastructure while handling many of the processing challenges that come with hybrid production environments.

Housed in a compact 1RU frame, FS8 provides up to eight channels of HD or four channels of UltraHD processing, combining frame synchronisation, up/down/cross conversion, HDR and SDR colour processing, audio management, delay, metadata handling, and SDI/IP gateway functionality. It supports 12G-SDI alongside ST 2110-20 video and ST 2110-30 audio, with additional Dante and MADI connectivity.

For facilities making the transition to IP, one of the most useful aspects is its flexibility. FS8 can operate entirely in SDI, entirely in ST 2110, or across a mixture of the two, allowing existing infrastructure to remain part of the workflow while IP capability is introduced. A node-based browser interface provides visual control over signal processing and routing, helping simplify configuration and troubleshooting.

For broadcasters navigating the move from baseband to IP, FS8 offers a practical way to bring conversion, synchronisation, colour processing, and audio management together without adding multiple separate boxes.
