2wcom adds TAMS support for faster access to cloud-based audio

2wcom has added support for TAMS, or Time Addressable Media Storage, across its broadcast solutions, opening up a different approach to storing and retrieving audio in modern IP and cloud-based workflows.

Rather than treating media solely as conventional files, TAMS allows applications to access content according to its position in time. This means a system can request a specific section of continuous media without first retrieving or processing an entire file, making access to content stored in environments such as S3 cloud storage significantly more efficient.

For broadcasters, this has some interesting implications. Audio can be accessed and exchanged between applications more quickly, while timestamp-based retrieval makes it easier for different systems to work with the same media without relying on traditional file-based processes.

2wcom has integrated TAMS functionality into both its hardware solutions and MoIN software platform, allowing existing audio to be transcoded and made available within TAMS-based workflows.

As broadcast infrastructure becomes increasingly software-defined and cloud-connected, technologies such as TAMS provide another way to bridge established broadcast systems with newer API-driven media architectures.
