Capabilities and Services Consultancy Gencom has a team of experienced engineering consultants with backgrounds in modern digital and high definition television system design. Gencom carries out consultancy from business case development to detailed design. Gencom involves specific expertise in specialist areas if a project is particularly unique. Please contact Gencom to discuss how we can assist with a project or supply a budgetary discussion. Design and drafting Gencom’s engineers carry out detailed design and drafting using AutoCAD to create complex multicolour drawings in any size and format. All drawings are catalogued and cabling runlists and cables are created from the data produced. Gencom can continue to update drawings following the completion of our installation and can also produce and maintain asset registers using barcodes on behalf of its customers. Project management As soon as a Request for Proposal (RFP) or tender document arrives at Gencom, an appropriate project file is set up on Gencom’s file server. A project team is also assembled and these people begin work on the tender document. The team usually consists of:
This team meets regularly and allocates the specialist areas of costing, drawings, technology discussions etc. It shares this information as living documents on the server The meetings provide checks and balances to ensure that all aspects of the proposal are covered. Microsoft Project is used to help with project planning. All parties, including the CEO and CFO, work together to negotiate the contract process. Once the contract is signed, the same team allocates resources and begins procurement. At this point the logistics team become involved and files and accounts are set up on the server to track the workflow. The project team work closely with the logistics team to ensure successful project delivery and appropriate invoicing. Logistics The logistics team ensure the successful order & delivery process of equipment required for a project. Equipment is tracked electronically from the time an order is placed with a supplier to the time it is delivered to our factory. Further tracking takes place as equipment is issued to installers and finally on delivery in integrated form, to the customer. Within the logistics team there are several people involved ensuring that all parts of the process are completed. Wiring and integration Gencom employs professional installers for all cabling and integration work. The team are very experienced and produce work of an extremely high standard. Correct cabling types are especially selected to ensure that signals are not compromised and labelling is carried out by one of various techniques, according to the customer’s choice. Gencom’s on-site work involves strict adherence to the appropriate code of practice and to health and safety standards appropriate to the site. Engineering Communication between the engineers, designers, draftsmen and the project management team is excellent throughout the project. The key element is weekly meetings which involve the project team and the client. These meetings are properly chaired and minuted, which ensures that all areas of design are considered as the project progresses. Gencom has proved that the systems in place are very effective in providing a well engineered and implemented solution. Commissioning Gencom commissions all equipment and systems. Depending on the nature of the job, preliminary commissioning is carried out in the factory prior to moving to site, or in the event that there is no factory pre-wire, commissioning is carried out on-site. Gencom likes to involve engineers from the customer side in the commissioning process to ensure that they have first hand knowledge of the system. Testing is carried out to ensure that all possible signal paths and functions are fully operational. Training Gencom can provide training on equipment and systems if required. This training will include specific use of supplied equipment and also general operations - both operational and technical. Depending on the product either the manufacturer can provide training or Gencom can provide training. All trainers are respected experts in their given fields. Please talk to us regarding your training needs. Support Warranties All equipment supplied by Gencom is under warranty for 12 months as per the terms and conditions of sale. Installations are under warranty for 12 months from the date that the Certificate of Acceptance has been signed by both parties. Longer support contracts can be negotiated if required. Support Contracts Gencom is able to offer support contracts to supplement our normal warranty. This can be negotiated at any time. Spare parts A spares holding may be available at Gencom for some products, or can be negotiated to being held on site depending on the requirement. Maintenance Gencom is able to offer a full maintenance service facility to our customers. We have engineers and technicians on staff for all types of maintenance and repair work at competitive rates.
